Production began for the E-type Jaguar in March of 1961. The first few E-types produced have unique features; including a flat floorboard which gave these early E-types the nick name Flat Floors. The early Flat Floors are very rare and the most valuable of the E-type Jaguars. They are rapidly on their way of becoming the next Million Dollar sports car. The recent auction prices for Flat Floors are rapidly exceeding $500K. At the rate these cars are appreciating this is truly a case where You can't pay too much, you can only buy too soon.
The early E-types are an engineering stroke of brilliance, and are one of the most attractive, sensuous, and evocative designs ever to grace an automobile chassis ------ as quoted by one automotive critic sex on wheels. Upon its introduction, and still today, it continues to win numerous awards for the most beautiful production car ever produced.
The E-type's design is an artful blend of race car and road car. It was the product of five years of development and borrowed much from the preceding race cars coming from Coventry; the famous C and D Type Sports-Racing Cars. The monocoque passenger compartment, tube framed engine bay, and tilting hood, clearly came from the D-Type. The early E-types, including the Flat Floors, also included a High Performance Triple SU Carburetion System and a sporty race car interior including a turned aluminum dash and console panels, toggle control switches, and race style bucket seats.

I have been collecting, restoring, and showing Classic Jaguars for 40 years, and an active member in the Classic Jaguar Community as a technical advisor, a club officer/board member, and judge at various shows. This car is one of many E-types Ive collected and restored over the past 40 years; it is the flagship of my collection. I have owned it for over 20 years and since its recent restoration I've driven it very sparingly and it has been used ONLY for show. The car has ONLY 54,500 original miles since new, and approximately 1000 miles since being restored.
As seen by the photographs the restoration was very comprehensive. It was done at an astronomical cost with no expense spared. The car was a solid straight 2-owner car when I purchased it; not something pieced together and restored over cancerous sins that will surface over time. All of the sheet metal is the original factory sheet metal as you'll see in the restoration photos. - Sheet metal - as seen by the restoration photos, this car had a rust-free body so it required very little sheet metal work except for straight-lining and adjustments to the metal to achieve a laser straight body and perfect panel gaps throughout the car.
